The Generation of a PDF for pre-press should include essential aspects like resolution of pictures, transparencies [Postscript-Level], embedding of fonts and when indicated colour-profiles. But interpreting readability in terms of recognizing letters/words and their correlation of a particular language, would be an unessential limitation. Readability and direction of an interpretation of a work and his message-intention are regulated by the cultural context, even as the creator of typography himself.
